Embrace your Snow Goddess

As the Winter Faeries once again visit, embrace your Inner Snow Goddess!  Snowy days afford the opportunity to play!  Catch snowflakes on your tongue, make a snow sculpture, dust off that old sled and fly down a hill!  When you are done, make some luscious cocoa!  Sit quietly and inhale the aroma, take several slow deep breaths and allow your eyes to close.  Feel yourself relax and journey to places that evoke a sense of safety and warmth amid the storm.  See yourself safe and warm in that space.  Know that as the Wheel turns, the cold and dark months afford us an opportunity to rest and assess our lives and that as the Sun is getting stronger each and every day, and so are you!

Approaching Imbolc

Imbolc is a celebration that reminds us that although winter is often at its' bleakest and the temperatures may still be frigid, spring is coming soon, and that we only have a few more weeks of winter to go. The sun is getting a bit brighter, the earth gets a little warmer, and signs of new life will soon appear.Imbolc is a time of magical energy related to the feminine aspect of the goddess, of new beginnings, and of fire.

Invoke the Goddess Brigid in your rituals, asking her blessings as we move through the last of the coldness and into the warmth of Spring.

Transitions

As hard as I try to embrace the natural turning of the Wheel, in the last few days all I can think is- I'm not ready!  It feels as if Autumn is already upon us. The quality of the light is changing, the mornings and evenings are crisp, and the sky is already beginning to change color to that deep blue that you only see in Autumn.  Autumn, the time of twilight, is definitely showing itself in the Hudson Valley.  Time to harvest what we have sown, assess what we need to clear and decide what seeds we want to preserve to nurture us in the coming darker months.  As Mabon approaches, take some quiet time to do rituals of thanksgiving.  Rejoice in the blessings that you have.  Spend time connecting physically to the Earth, honoring the changes that are beginning to show themselves all around us.  May your harvest be abundant!

The Witches Were Stitching

Last Sunday was our first Stitch Ministry meeting. We look forward to coming together again in community on September 22 at 6pm- do join us and become a part of this project to create healing and prayer shawls for those in need. No previous experience is necessary! Call the shop for details.

Green Witchery

Nothing says Green Witch like gathering dinner from your yard- not your garden- your yard! Last night's class, Wild Women, Wild Food was a fun, hands on experience! And the food was amazing! This luscious meal is mugwort pasta with garlic mustard pesto, plantain leaves dipped in batter and baked and a foraged salad. Karine is also teaching an herbal vinegar class on September 26 and Herbs to Die For, a class on poisonous plants, on October 27. Call the shop today to sign up and don't miss out on these offerings!

what's new

Lammas- The First Harvest Festival

Lammas is the first of the harvest festivals in the Wheel of the Year.  I would like to invite you to share in the spirit of this  Sabbat by helping us to collect non-perishable food items to be donated to the veteran's food pantry at Castle Point.  While this has been an ongoing effort for me, having volunteered at a local food pantry, I know that all toooften, in the summer months, donations drop off.  The harvest gives us an opportunity to contemplate all of the blessings and abundance in our lives.
